Ultimatum

Extreme?

It is indeed a bitter fact that the truth is not always something good. The truth is not always something fun. It turns out that reality is indeed harsh-so stop picturing a utopia ,get out from your imaginations. Get a real life.

A positive psychology, in the other hand, is a way of thinking that suggests and pictures everything in a positive, harmonic way. Someone like this tends to take everything from the good side. The world is so peaceful and calm with this kind of thinking, but, seriously , there's something not quite right with it.

This immense positivity is indeed, terribly positive. Let's say some people decides to celebrate Valentine's Day. A positive minds translate this as a celebration of love, a demonstration of love, a show that we care for each other, hell yeah! This positiveness rocks. If I love someone, I don't need to demonstrate it to everyone. I don't need a day to love. Love everyone , every day, will we?  That specific day of celebrating love is a disguised means of allowing illicit behavior and a tendency to have a baby the next nine months. Celebrate!
Such positivity is disguised in other names; tolerance, or understanding, perhaps. We see people dancing and jiggling and showing off their bodies; well, we should be positive, shouldn't we? It is a healthy sport, a good way to socialize , to be happy. So why question such healthy activity?

Positivity kills you and everyone around you. Yeah, people around us don't pray, so we just show that we pray, wait for it, and somehow, someday , they will magically start praying and reciting the Quran. Indeed, positive psychology is wondrous, magical and full of optimism.

We return to the subject that truth is not always something fun. Truth is bitter. Positive minded people does not want to even consider the bitter part of truth, they don't talk about it, they cannot see it, they cannot discuss about it, they reject it. They tend to alienate it, although this bitterness is the very part of their own lives.

Telling the truth is not a form of extremism. Seriously. Let's say that a husband cheated on his wife, and the scandal became known to her. The wife decides to question the husband, but he rejected her claims. Then the husband says to her, "You are very extreme, you can't say that. Let's look at the bright side. You are old , and my mistress is lovely. Can't you just ignore the bitter truth, and live with it, so we can both have fun?"

To make it simple, we must face reality. I had had enough of my own, so I do know it, you have to face it. This is truth; we become old, we will be sick, your parents will die, you have a choice of hell and heaven, you have the choice to ignore or to think about this. Ignorance leads us to nowhere.

Ignorance is terribly bliss, yeah, mind our own business, mind your own business. A positive man is always happy, but is that happiness genuine? You can't close your eyes and stop listening forever.
Peace.

Freedom

Academic freedom is the belief that the freedom of inquiry by students and faculty members is essential to the mission of the academy, and that scholars should have freedom to teach or communicate ideas or facts (including those that are inconvenient to external political groups or to authorities) without being targeted for repression, job loss, or imprisonment.

Enough said.

To voice out whatever one thinks right, without fear. This is the right that is considered most democratic, the freedom sought for.

We had had enough talks about freedom. We had discussions, we had demonstrations, pickets, rallies for freedom all around the world. People wants freedom, most likely more than anything. Freedom of speech, freedom of work, freedom of almost everything. And also freedom to walk around people ,naked, freedom to do sins , and freedom of every law implied. We ain't no free world, are we?

History told us that nations broke into wars, for freedom. Wars are devastating, full of bloodlust, and a war is expensive.  Thus, freedom costs life, numerous lives, money and time. See? Freedom itself is not free. Expect less of it.

Academic freedom is not the same. A war is an unlikely option for the fighters of academic freedom.  Academic freedom is  for academicians, students, professors and teachers. Stupid people are not given this academic freedom, because they are not intellectuals, instead,  they are given freedom of stupidity . Hah, whatever.

Sorry for such nonsense, this is my academic freedom to express whatever I want . People of the past centuries had been fighting for the same thing; for academic freedom. The authority in European countries; the churches exerted a significant limiting influence upon academic curricula and research, until the end of the 19th century. Any ideas or theories by academicians that contradict the authority will be censored or banned, rejected or just accepted, partially. Remember Galileo Galilei? His theory about heliocentrism contradicts the religious authority, and he was put into house arrest  until the end of his life.

Europeans went past their monstrous prime, and emerged as a centre of education and academic freedom of the world. The intellectuals can say anything or critic anyone without fear, they can write books without being banned, they can implant an ideology in the students' brains, the only thing they can't do is to order the students to kill a politician, although that is somehow plausible. It seems that the developed countries managed to hold to the principles of academic freedom, while our country is still stuck in the 19th century.
Prof. Aziz Bari

The question about academic freedom is; what are we gonna do with it , once the freedom is acquired? This sounds rather silly , but it is something we need to think of. The Egyptians once thought that once the President, Anwar Sadat went down in 1981, things will be better with the iconic Hosni Mubarak. They hoped of changes in bureaucracy, a better lifestyle, and yes, freedom, but they were wrong.  They had to fight to overthrow Hosni Mubarak in later years, who cheated them on the promises of freedom. And now , they are still deciding on what to do with the freedom they acquired, still in process.  We need to know how to handle this freedom, because one does not simply lay in front  of a university's  gate at 2 a.m. without knowing how to handle freedom they fought for. One does not simply go to rallies, get beaten to the death, without a basis of what they are fighting for.

Will the freedom gives way for lecturers to endorse false ideologies and plant a rebellious stand among students? Will this freedom allow people to justify sins they do, like in the case of Seksualiti Merdeka? Freedom, freedom. I am a pessimist, I have the rights to be pessimistic.

We need to be careful, because unpleasant things do happen. We need to think of the unthinkables . When the Western people set their people free, men and women misused the concept of freedom. It was supposed to be the freedom to speak of what is right, but today, it is merely speaking of things they want. 50 years ago, they were speaking against racism and about religious rights, but now they are talking about same-sex marriages and adultery . Freedom of speech is supposed to be freedom to speak something right; the truth, but people went wild. They think that they are free to do whatever sin they wanna do. They are not free. Freedom has its limits, it is expensive and difficult.
nothing to do with freedom

To the government, giving academic freedom is dangerous. It is like giving freedom to a lion caged in a zoo. The zoo kept the lions since they were cubs; the zoo loves the lions, but still, they are dangerous. The lions however have the rights to roam free and rule the jungles, and the zoo is obligated to free them. It is their right to be free, isn't it? Let's say that the zookeepers felt very guilty of imprisoning the lions, they decided to free them. Free them, at the zoo, open their cages in public to demonstrate freedom. That allows the lions to roam the zoo freely and probably the city next to it. The lions will harm the people. Perhaps, the lions will kill the zookeepers first , than feast on the citizens. Thanks to the genius zookeepers for the unlimited freedom. Things might be different though, if the lions released were fed with Whiskas and Friskies. To avoid the unwanted damage, the zoo must release the lions at the jungle; their rightful place. They can have their freedom, but at the rightful place.

This comparison is not fair , as academicians are not lions, they are not wild in nature. Academicians speak of the truth, and because of that , we should give them freedom. But, are they really truthful?

We need freedom because we are humans ,we have our rights and ideas, but we still need restrictions , because we are still greedy animals with a habit of self-destruction. We do not need AUKU, but at the same time we do not want the justification of sins and lies.

Freedom itself has its limits. Expect less of it.

Peace.

This is absolutely clean. Please.

When you have diarrhea, your whole life orientation shifts. Either you are a student, or an employee, or just a simple human, the directions of your life on that particular diarrhea day changes. You can't study much, you can't even play games, even Facebook turns out to be disgusting. Your direction on that day is towards the toilet . The Toilet, remember. The continuous flow of shit from you is ,well, endless, and that will make you suffer and beg for sympathy. You need to go to the Toilet every ten minutes, if not less, because you are enslaved by the Toilet. You are lucky if you are at a decent house, or an hostel, because having diarrhea in public locations is most inconvenient. You might consider wearing adult diapers if you are in places which restrict the usage of water, yeah.

Clearly, having a diarrhea is so not very good. You might get dehydrated, emaciated, and perhaps die in the next few days. Lucky you, because you can die, because the suffering can end peacefully. But to those who does not die, they continue being slaves to the toilet; forever.

Dear people, the paragraph above is nothing disgusting. That is something that happens to every single person on this planet, so there's nothing to be said "eww" to. Yeah, it's kinda disturbing, but there's something much, much worse.

Did you know that diarrhea does not affect human beings alone? Yes. Besides animals and human beings, diarrhea can affect non-living things! Seriously. I just discovered this fact minutes ago, good gracious. Diarrhea affects non-living things. Wanna know what ? It's  the media.

More specifically, the government-controlled media. The media in our country got diarrhea, for years, and they had been suffering from it. The media suffered a diarrhea so severe, they never stop giving shit to people since the news started operating. How miraculous.

The national press had lost its credibility because of the endless slanders and lies they make, that is the shit being meant. I'm sorry people, for the language, but that is most suitable.

One nice thing about people having diarrhea is that the sickness affects no one else. He is the only man being enslaved to the toilet, others doesn't have to suffer. He endures the uneasiness, the discomfort, the smell, and the rumbling sounds , alone.  But the national television , the press, and their so-called internet army throw their poop to the people. Those who successfully smelled the thrown thing will believe whatever the media told them, no matter how ridiculous. The bright people, and those who know will cover their noses and run  away from the poop rain. Well, who wants those stinky stuff, eh? However , some innocent people got hit by the shits being thrown. Enemies of the government, weak and poor, being targeted by the media, their dignity robbed off, their good names smeared. This sickness of the media shall stop, because it is wrong, and we Malaysians can no longer survive this. Seriously.

This diarrhea is  pandemic, as the media grow larger by coverage, the more shit they produce.  They slandered a decent man, and destroyed his life. Since the 90's , they had told Malaysians that Anwar Ibrahim is an homosexual, as if they were better judges than the courts. The cases was enormously publicized, they produced so much ridiculous evidence, that we can always perceive as regular shit they make. Not enough with jail, they stepped up their efforts by showing porn movies in the bulletin and the press, showing to every single person on earth, how evil Anwar is. We are not that stupid, seriously, we are no aborigines of the deep jungles, we have the internet. Run away from the poop shower, people.

When a decent student  lowered the beloved Prime Minister's flag in a picket, the media pop into action. Their terrible internet army started producing shit, slanders and stories on Adam Adli , the student who asked for his rights. They showed a picture in a blog, showing that Adam Adli is a horrible , perverted gay! Can you see how serious this shit is? We are lucky that Malaysians still have their souls and didn't fall to the shit right away.

Their last act of shittiness raged many kind-hearted , innocent people. This is totally unforgivable. We can never forgive you for this, never. Ustaz Azhar Idrus was targeted for their next shit, they made stories about his origin, gossips of his wrongdoings with women. Dear people, this man is a revolutionary preacher, he is perhaps better than Amr Khaled of Egypt. The words he delivered change people's live to better standards, people turn into better muslims for the dakwah he brought. The society had idolized actors, singers and drug addicts for too long, they miss someone who can bring back the light to the nation. Kindly remove the slanders, there are limits for the amount of shit produced. Our capacity reached maximum.

During Bersih rally, they told people about molotov cocktails, rebellious riots, bombs, communism, every shit possible. And now, the 901 rally, as they said, will have a show about petrol bombs. How interesting.

Open your minds people, open it wide.

I have only one single question; what is wrong with these kind people, that the media have to slander    them continuously? The tongue, the ultimate tongue, the national tongue will be questioned during Akhirat about they lies they made, and you know what? We can't wait for the moment to come.

I have another fact that you should know; diarrhea is curable, it is not like AIDS or some STDs. You can take acidophillus or bacid pills, and insyaallah the sickness will recede. Or you can just depend on your immune system, the sickness will be somehow cured. How about the prestigious media? Can the continuous flow of shit stop?

Sure. I'm completely sure. Once the shareholders, the editors and writers of the press company have taqwa in their hearts, things will be far better than expected. One who fears Allah does not slander people ,and absolutely no nonsense will be produced. I can guarantee thee, so believe me.

"O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful."(Al- Hujurat:6)

Hey people, diarrhea is normal. There's nothing dirty to write about it. So forgive me.
Peace.

~The Supremacy~

When we first came to this planet, it was all chaos and disorder. The planet was inhabitated by violent and rigorous creatures , those animals with small brains and big mouths. We came from far ,far away, in a mission to invade planet Earth

. We thought that the creatures on earth were highly civilized and modern, but we were wrong. They were far behind all other planets we've went, no technology,no buildings, and well, nothing. Just thick forests and dark jungles. We expected that the creatures of planet Earth would fight for their home, but they did nothing but eat each other.    It was all but a waste to bring together all the battalions and artillery, because a fight was not needed. The war was already won, this sacred planet was invaded . We decided that we should make this planet a better place to live.

Planet Earth had the greenery , the soul that our planet had lost. We, Malayans from the Malay planet had to search for a new planet  to live as our planet  was destroyed in an intergalactic war. The fresh waters, the green leaves and the subtle fields made us confident that Earth was the perfect choice, except that the creatures were so wild, we couldn't even sleep a night.

Together we fought to exterminate the so-called dinosaurs on earth and bury them deep in the earth's crust. It was easy, since they've got not brains at all; and we used all the technology we had . When we finished the mass murders, new creatures suddenly emerged from the depth of caves and the seas. They had been hiding from the monstrous creatures, deep in taverns, holes and desert hideouts. There were all sorts of creatures, and we were excited for the phenomenon.

Some of the creatures had stripes, some were slimy, they were in all sorts of shapes and colours. We were most surprised when those creatures started to roam around the planet with such enthusiastic manner, they seemed to be hidden from sunshine since ages before. We were fascinated, but suddenly something weird happened. Behind all those new creatures that appeared, a group of aborigines came forth- and they looked exactly like us.

We were astonished, we went to hundreds of galaxies, none of the aliens looked like us. But these creatures, they looked exactly, -seriously- like us. We approached the earthlings and tried to investigate them, but they spoke no language, just weird sounds,  non-intelligible voices. The only difference between us , Malayans and the earthlings was that we were all of one colour, the typical malay brown, but they were black, white, yellow, blue and green.

We assumed that the earthlings were completely uncivilized because of the monstrous dinosaurs that ruled the lands. After some time, we proceeded to teach the earthlings of what they need to know- Malay language, survival skills, clothing, food, and technology. We begun from the basics, to the most complicated things, acting human, for example. We were surprised as they were quick learners, they obeyed and accepted the subjects we tried to implement in their minds, and soon, we started to accept them in our community.

The adaptation didn't take long, as they really have brains. The earthlings imitated our lifestyle, businesses, matrimony, family, sports, and somehow they improved our way of life to better standards. They started to occupy places in our markets; those aborigines, and lived with us on our lands . At first, this was a good development, but we failed to expect the unexpected.

We built  cities, houses, pyramids on planet Earth, but then, poof! They created nations and skyscrapers. Wait , this wasn't part of the plan. Earthlings reproduced at a very  high rate, their amount quadripled each year. Our existence was threatened! We taught them of civilization, and now they are doing better than we did. This is unfair! We need to protect the Malay supremacy, our rightful rights on this land, as we ourselves developed this planet. Those earthlings are a weak race, we are the origins ! They might have forgotten our history, our strength and intelligence, but we never did.  Malay Supremacy! Malay Supremacy! We have to fight for our strength upon them!

Malay Supremacy!

What the hell?

Dear people, the adventure above never happened. What, Malay supremacy? Are you kidding me? If  that short tale ever happened, then perhaps we can declare our supremacy, but nay, no, we can't. We are all humans of the same origin, weak creatures which loved and killed each other. So why bother with the supremacy? What's our reasons?

Racism does not give you salvation in the  Hereafter. If you are weak and poor, there's no use to blame other races, you are lazy, weak, and yes, lazy. You shall have no rights upon things that you didn't work for.

"Human beings, We created you all from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another. Verily the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-fearing of you. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware." (Al-Hujurat :13)

If there is no basis for the so-called Malay Supremacy, then , are there any reasons to fight for it? Come on people, this race-based fight is useless, there is no profit for it, but endless quarrels and dissatisfactions. Be honest to ourselves.

Peace.

Music to the soul~

Entertainment should entertain. That is the basis of entertainment. If something does not entertain, then it shall not be considered entertainment, although some sort of entertainment might excite someone, and irritate others. Well said , huh? If that is it, then what is the reason that people keep making fuss about entertainment?

I love music, and the lyrics that I heard and remembered does not turn me into some sort of criminal. So why ban it?

Some people said that we should not get involved with western entertainment. Their songs, movies, rock n roll? You decide. Some said that their music contains zionist agenda, leads to blasphemy, and turns people into gays. The so-called western movies  make you kill your neighbours, rape your children and bomb supermarkets. We shall listen to Islamic music only, only, yes, only. Whoa, whoa relax...there's a reason and truth for everything being said.

If they said that we people shall indulge with Islamic form of entertainment, they should prepare perfect substitutes. Songs that can match the catchy tone of the western music. Movies that make you happy ,and make the heart grow sober.  What happened? We failed to make perfect substitutes, we just copy and paste their own form of entertainment.

We complained that their movies contained too much violence, but then, starting this millenia, we muslims produced a long list of movies of people killing each other, or teenagers trying suicide on their bikes. So much with the violence. We   often said their entertainment contained just overloaded sexual inclination, well, look at our artists! Sooo proud.

To make things worse, the Home Ministry decided to cancel off the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia, which means, filmmakers can now produce movies without any limits and censorship. Such a wonderful life. Say hello to violent, racist and porn productions. Hurray!

What? I'm a deadly pessimist, remember?

We decided earlier, that entertainment shall entertain. So we make programs solely based on fun. Make jokes, so people can laugh out their stress. Be clowns on stage, entertain us, the hungry people, so we can procrastinate perfectly with family and friends. Are we really happy with that?

Our music,is it really entertaining? Remember, one that does not entertain shall not be considered entertainment. Most of our music is about love, and 80 percent of that love songs, they are just telling about heart breaks, ~I left you, you left me, I hate you, you hate me, you shall die!~, where is the fun part of entertainment?

           So serious, huh?

Faisal Tehrani wrote in his book that we should stop building  masjids, and start making Islamic movies with the money. Seriously people, he never meant that we should stop bulding masjids, but we have to sponsor the right amount so that Islamic entertainment can be made as perfect substitutes to the western ones. His book then got banned for those critics. So proud~

          Bruno Mars' Count On Me contains these lyrics;

"You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do"

So simple a lyric, but instead so fine and catchy. Can we consider that as the fun part of entertainment? You decide.

If we insist that all the clowns and singers are fine entertainment to us, the people, why aren't they, themselves happy? They tried so hard to make us happy, they are gems in the entertainment world, so why aren't they happy? Isn't that entertainment perfect enough for them?  Countless entertainers indulged themselves with night clubs, liquor and women. Perfect example. Many of our performers made themselves happy with drugs and stuff. The country's sifu of clowns, for example, he made everyone happy, but he can't make himself calm. He choose drugs ,instead of his own powerful jokes and  funny faces. Why can't his entertainment make himself happy? What is wrong? Our celebrities shot to stardom, then get caught with drugs or some girls. Uh, scandals. Bruno Mars himself took cocaine. What a happy life.

"Those    who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." (Surah ArRa'd ;28)

Entertainment shall not be considered as something that solely entertains. Entertainment shall be considered as something that make our hearts calm. Let it be hard rock or just old books, it will do. Western or eastern, that does not matter, but Allah taught us that only by remembering him, we can be calm. Serenity is what we need most, not endless laughter to kill time.

I often meet a man,a very religious man in my place. He's a millionaire, but he never bought a Bugatti, or a ten million condominium in Singapore. He built a house in a village far from civilization, and a school for huffaz infront of his house. He always wear the same clothing, the same car, a white turban, for everyday in his life. The same thing, everyday!  He is a millionaire, but he doesn't have a Macbook, or a smart phone, or a facebook account, or beautiful girls all around. At first I thought, what an idle , a boring life? Seriously? But everytime I meet him, he always smiled, and that smile of his proved to be such a happy life which seemed to dawn over all my self-made happiness, my short life. I have everything, yet he seems so much happier, his face glows to everyone .

When he speaks, he sounds so down to earth, although he is the man with the most knowledge , and well, money, in this village. And he is always happy, and I thought, what kind of entertainment he had? Guess what? The people who reached the highest level of living doesn't have to entertain himself with crappy music or men who dress like girls on stage. His prayers, zikr and and a simple life are enough. So much with the entertainment.

"Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion." (Surah Al-Hadid ;20)

Peace.

To The Death~

I can't write a thing. Nothing. My brain's empty. Nothing meaningful. I have lots and lots of ideas, too much, that I'm going to explode out of it . They all seemed useless, non-productive ideas. I will sit infront of the laptop every night, staring blankly at the idle screen ,like a sort of a moron. This feeling kills me from the inside. Yeah, you really want to do something, but you just can't, and without any reason. That causes some form of manic depression, a tension ripping you apart, an addiction. God, help me.

Please. Let me write, and I'll sleep like a brick. No, not a chance, no way.

Politics sucks. Politics are like lies; continuous lies, that some people succeeded to believe without a bit of uncertainty. I don't want to write about those lies. They are an enormous hate which is rooted deep inside our hearts, sometimes without a reason.

Economics? Oh, I don't know a thing.

Love? I had had enough.

I can't find a single thing that will not spark a heated argument, those which will not end in peace. Seriously.

            Once, a sifu, a sifu of sifus of writers told young men about being a writer;
"Read, then read, then read, then read, then read....." If you want to write, then read, then read again, continue reading, and yes, just read. If you didn't, don't even try. You will fail. Disagree? Just search every single writer you know (the famous ones obviously),they certainly are avid readers. Bookworms, not necessarily nerdy, although that might be.

If you didn't read, you will write based on your opinions alone, your views of your cramped world. To you, yes, your view is wide, but to the others, you are just another attention seeking dude, rhetorics of unspoken normality, views that can be put aside. In the other hand , you're the cliche-still not out of the box. Get out. Sorry, not you, but the other billions who did not read.

I started reading heavily since Form One. The objective was simple, read the  most number of books, and you will be rewarded by the school, perhaps the state, perhaps the nation herself. A certificate I will be proud to show off to everyone, including my future in-laws. Oh relax, I was just twelve at that time.My logic was illogical. The objective was clear, read MORE books than anyone else, get the presents. The school library gave a lot of stuff, seriously, haha, and that made the competition hard. They gave a big replica made of plastic-is it?- and written on it " The Reader of The Month" , sometimes a hamper of snacks, sometimes a certificate from the state, and perhaps some cash.  I got a friend who got addicted with reading, and so my life started as a bookworm.

We borrowed two books each day, because that is the limit for non-librarians, and return them the next day, read or not. We made records for the books we read in a log given by the school. You have to write the authors' name, the titles, the summary of contents, number of pages, yes, everything. Sometimes we read books with a hundred pages, sometimes three, sometimes just a leaflet. Still readable. True story. We always make it more than a hundred records for a month. Yeeha.

I read so much that I was long-sighted, byopia by the age of thirteen. Seriously, I wear glasses until now. I read almost everything, from encyclopaedias to novels and magazines. I was thrilled by the pictures, anemones in the sea, turtles, islands, people of different sorts of colours. My friend even remembered the names of the nations and their capitals, reciting them without failure. In the early days I was dumbfounded by the diversity of nature, I was fascinated by everything I read. Do I sound like an old , old man telling stories? No, I'm just eighteen and happy.

Our mission succeeded, my friend and I took turns in receiving the rewards. I got so many certificates, I finally stopped doing reports for the books I read. Why? I don't think the awards are motivational enough. The books alone are too precious for us to read, they were hidden gems.Well, we found the real treasures, who would want those cheap certificates? Hah. We spent a lot of time in the library searching for every kind of books. I got adddicted with Enid Blyton and her short stories, and I took to reading all her books. Yes. All.

Enid Blyton's books in the school's library were plenty, I thought there were a whole rack just for her. The books were old, and although they were so many, I seldom see any student taking interest in her books, not even considering to look at them. Well, she was a Briton, we Javarians don't use her language much . Her writings were alien to them,  most of my friends. Well, elves, fairy tales, dwarfs, angels and talking toys, who oughta read that kind of stuff? But I did. Her books taught me about ethics as a child, heck, I learnt most of the ways to behave from her! The simplest things-saying thanks, helping a friend, being polite- the simplest things most books forgot to imply. Nay, students still find her books childish, nonsense and rubbish.

I moved on to the classics, Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers,Little Women, Robinson Crusoe, they were just awesome. Alexander Dumas, Frances Anne Hodgson, Jules Verne. They are great writers, but the books remained old, the pages turn yellow, the books remained untouched. I kept wondering, until now, they are like; the best books ever, but nobody seems to have any interest. What the hell is wrong with the people?

Let them be. As my friend and I grew, we can reach the higher shelves of the small library. That is an analogy, seriously. We started to read books for the form fives, for the teachers. You can choose not to believe, but we read the collections of Malay  stories by the Malaysia's prominent literary figures when a new box containing those books arrived at the library. A. Samad Said, Keris Mas, Shahnon Ahmad, Usman Awang, although their writings were sometimes so hard to understand, sometimes I failed to swallow the plot at all. Their books were a legacy of the only kind, the messages so softly delivered, stories you won't be able to think of. Most of the stories revolved around the hardships of the war at their time, they pictured life to be so mean and hard, but sometimes the stories were just political satires. A book I read just contains shit, and nothing else. Seriously, and literally, a book  about shit. Check this out; Shahnon Ahmad; the title is 'Shit'. I just can't stop laughing.

Then, as hormones surge in, we moved to the teenage novels. My friend opted for the Malay novels, I went the other way. The Malay novels are full of puppy love, they made  the girls laugh alone while reading. They are the most predictable, annoying never-ending love stories, non-beneficial, a waste of money, encourages illegal love among teenagers. Sorry . Haha. But, they really are cliches, I can tell the ending just by looking at the cover. I can vomit at the third page, I can't take them all. Certain Malay writers are the exception, they are legendary, they wrote different things; ideology, principles, the law of nature, all in a story. Sometimes a writer wrote a better story in a single chapter than any other writers. Some of them even got banned by the non-bookworm government. I understand why the authorities banned them  , they themselves never read a thing other than fully biased newspapers, so why bother banning a book or an author? You decide.

I was enchanted-no- cursed by J.K Rowling, her books took my soul away. I read her books like a drug addict, they can't  be put away, the attractions too strong. Stayed with her story to the end, I felt helpless when it ended. I read her books again and again, still enthusiastic as the first time I bought the book, as the first time I hold the hard  cover, like a gold bar; no, much better.

The adventure continued, oh, I even read Narnia. Then, to every novel that made its way to the cinema, both the book and the movie bought. I Am Number Four, To Kill A Mocking Bird, name it. When I found Dan Brown's and Jeffrey Archer's books, my life flipped over. Theirs are a new kind. Thrillers. Intelligent writings-all time bestsellers in the world, and I chose to read them rather than study. Bad, bad choice.

Later on, when my father passed away, he left me with so many books I never read, or never bothered to look. He had his own small library, which I never cared to open. Books, from his college times. They were old- the print on the covers shows three decades ago. My father always read his books, everyday, yet I didn't even try to take a peek at the contents. Then , one day, I tried.

I opened the covers dumbfounded, startled. I felt so small, stupid and , small. I read so many books, but, what are these? His books aren't story books. His books aren't fantasies. Mine are teenage romance , dragon slayers, magic, tales of ancient wars. Mine are complete imagination. Mine are just stories. They start, and they end. That's it. But his books..

The authors of his books were the people from now, to a thousand years ago, and older. How legendary, and they seemed to write better. Old guides and advices from them , encrypted in modern printing , and new-age papers. His aren't stories of the past, his books are living legends, guide for the future.Family raising, leadership, jihad, society, economics, and yes, I am not kidding you, this is the real stuff.

The books contain rules and guides, explanations of how to live a life. The books had been translated to hundreds of languages since the early years, brought to sail by the Muslim traders throughout the world. They spread the books , spread the belief, spread the light. The books started from inks and papers in languages alien to us, but now they are present in bookstores nationwide. And until now, the books are being read, used and read again. You know what, these are the number one bestseller in the world for 8 centuries. Mind blown. Try one. Riyadhus Solihin.

All those  years with the books seemed to be in vain. But, so be it.

There is no use writing when you don't read. There is no use reading, when you read only fantasies, lies and utter imagination. There is no use to read, if the books brought no good to anyone but you. There is no use to read when you don't have a reason other than to procrastinate.

Paradox

What is religion?

Religion is Addeen. Addeen, is , the way of life. Lifestyle. Ideology. Rules. Guide. Mindset. Faith.

When we believe in Islam, it means that we accept this religion as a way of life. Religion sets the guide for us, in every detail of our daily life, without a single exception. It is the religion that we follow to decide our etiquettes, our style and fashion. The way I drink, the way I sleep, and yes, even the way I eat. Religion is our source of light, without it we will be lost. This is what we must believe.

Surely there is room for discussion and disagreements in this religion, but surely that privilige is just for uncertainties, small issues that are minors. As a guide, religion tells us what is wrong, and what is right, clearly. If , you are a believer, you won't object, and you wont question whatsoever being told. Heck, Allah give us this guidance, it is flawless, then how could you object? Allah told us to pray. So pray la.. Will you ask then , why should you pray? How could you? May Allah be with you.

You want some proof? There are lots and lots and lots and...lots of them in the Quran, on why should you obey. The proof that God exists, the proof of all scientific miracles in the Quran, history told perfectly, Big Bang, the expanding universe, foetus in the womb, chemistry. All are scientific evidence, if you don't take in philosophy. If you do believe in philosophy, the Quran is the mother of all philosophy. The point is that, you don't have a point not to believe.

Do you have any point on what is wrong with this religion?

If, there is nothing wrong, then why should you not follow what is stated?

I'm sick with the rhetoric, '' we will obey when there is proof, when our brain says yes, when it is scientifically proven, when we see it with our own eyes".

This religion is based on proof and facts, just tell us about any issue , there will be a perfect reason, evidence and fact. You must acknowledge that you failed to obey, not because there is no proof , but because you are egoistic, you're so proud with the so-called ' modern style of thinking'. Allah decides who you become with this religion , it is not you who decide which is right and which is wrong. Islam is not based on what you want, instead you have to obey.

People brought you tonnes of reason, then why should you disobey? Proof, hadith, Quranic verses, all are clearly presented, yet you still disagree. This is not a disagreement based on facts, this is arrogance.

I am not an extremist when I said that you should not do what is forbidden. You are an extremist because you dared to defy Allah when it is clearly forbidden. Why question the undeniable fact?

What has become of us, when we said that , we are Talibans when we decide to follow the religion? If doing what Allah asks, and leave what he forbids means being Talibans, then I'd rather be
talibans, seriously. If, embracing Islam to the fullest make you call us Talibans, terrorists, extremists, fundamentalist, I want to do so. Will you?

We need to be liberalised, they said, in this modern world. We need to decide what is right with our brains as we can think. Heck, this world is not modern. It is not getting new, but it gets older, older and older. Does questioning Allah's rights means liberalism? I don't think so. Does defying what the ulama' had said , means liberalism? I don't think so. Who are we, compared to the prophet, to his friends, to the ulama', that we are so confident of our immature thoughts? Is that liberalism? That is not freedom to think, but that is disobedience, crime and misunderstanding.

"Say, 'Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth? Or who controls hearing and sight and who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and who arranges [every] matter?' They will say, ' Allah ,' so say, 'Then will you not fear Him?'For that is Allah , your Lord, the Truth. And what can be beyond truth except error? So how are you averted?
Thus the word of your Lord has come into effect upon those who defiantly disobeyed - that they will not believe.".( Surah Yunus, 31-33)

I'm sorry.

Peace.
